~~5 “Totally Deceptive” Stars ~~

I’ll start by saying that this book is the first book by Ella Fox that I have read, and it won’t be my last. I thought she did a wonderful job writing a story that totally matched the title and blurb of the book. I will say that I was originally drawn to this book because of the synopsis of the book. I was not disappointed one bit. I LOVED this book. The books description that is on Amazon was totally accurate. This is not your normal Happy and Loving love story. This book is all about, lust, greed, lies, deception and revenge. The fact that we actually got a HEA and a somewhat happy love story was a pleasant surprise to me. I honestly thought I wasn’t going to like this book after I started reading the book, because of 1 character in particular, but I am so happy to say that I ended up loving it. I loved Ella’s writing style, she created a story that captivated me all the way through. This book had so many twists and turns, you were finding things out throughout the whole story. She continued to reveal new twists all the way up to the last chapter. I think that any author that can keep you guessing throughout a whole book deserves 5 stars. Not only keeping you captivated, she also tapped into every emotion you have. I wanted to throw my kindle so many times in the first half of the book, plus my heart broke many times for all the characters (Well except for 1 Celine) I also laughed during Demi and Sloane’s interactions….I loved their friendship. I also by the end of the book swooned over Killian and I truly ended up feeling the love from him.

This story starts off when Killian is 23 and Sloane is 17. Sloane is in love with Killian and has been for many years. Killian also is in love with Sloane but he is waiting until she is legal before pursuing anything with her. But before she can turn 18 a tragic event happens and changes everything for Sloane and Killians relationship. They are no longer speaking to each other and Killian has made it perfectly clear that he hates Sloane. Throughout the story we find out slowly but surely why Killian hates Sloane and what really happened during their time apart. What we have here is a story that is built on lies and deception, that also turns to revenge. I can’t say to much because I would ruin the story. I will just say that the story will keep you guessing all the way through.

I really liked Sloane ( got her name from the 80’s movie Ferris Bueller’s day off ) She was a strong person. She has gone through a lot of heartache in her short life and instead of being broken, she has decided to take charge of her life and nothing is going to stop her. She wasn’t an annoying character at all, my only problem with her was that I thought she gave into Killian way to easily once everything came to light. After the way he treats her for the first half of the book….I think in real life it would have taken a lot more then just a simple apology. Now that leads me to Killian…..I absolutely hated him in the beginning of this story. He was so cold and mean that I would have knocked him in the head if I was Sloane. I was glad to see that once he was made aware of his mistakes that his personality changed. He did eventually grow on me and became quite swoon worthy to me. I will say that the author did a great job portraying to the reader that even though Killian hated Sloane, you still knew down deep that he still loved her and would do anything to keep her safe. So when things are revealed it wasn’t to hard to believe his change in attitude.

This story revolved pretty much around Sloane and Killian but we did meet some other characters that added the element of twists to the story.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book that is twisty and turny, a little dark, totally gritty, and captivating all in one. I will warn you that this book does have a mild BDSM aspect to it. (Bondage, blindfolding, spanking, flogging and Dominance) So if that isn’t something that appeals to you, you might want to think twice before picking this book up. This is definitely an erotic romance book with strong language and lots of sex. I am totally glad that I read this book. It was a book that is normally out of my comfort zone, but nothing I read in this book made me feel uncomfortable at all.
