Title: Rome (Marked Men #3)
Author: Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date: January 7, 2014
Publisher: William Morrow an imprint of HarperCollins Publishing
Event organized by: Literati Author Services, Inc.

Cora Lewis is a whole lot of fun, and she knows how to keep her tattooed bad boy friends in line. But all that flash and sass hide the fact that she’s never gotten over the way her first love broke her heart. Now she has a plan to make sure that never happens again: She’s only going to fall in love with someone perfect.
Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn and rigid, he’s bossy and has come back from his final tour of duty fundamentally broken. Rome’s used to filling a role: big brother, doting son, super soldier; and now none of these fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes the only color on his bleak horizon.
Perfect isn’t in the cards for these two, but imperfect might just last forever . . .

4 Rome Archer STARS!!

Mmmmmmmmm, mmmmmmmm, mmmmmmmmm….Rome  Archer is HOT!! No, wait, hot isn’t even a good enough word to explain him 😉 Let’s go with LARGE alpha male(large is in capitals for a reason…hehe), lickable, sex on a stick, and I am sure I can come up with many more. Cora is one lucky little “half-pint.”  And this story has some panty melting sex scenes for ya J But, aside from the great sex these two have, they also both have a lot of their own baggage and differences. It is obvious from the start that they are meant to be together, but like any good romance book, the road to happiness is a rocky one full of hurdles that will test their love and your patience.

“I wasn’t a prude, I knew dudes’ business came in all shapes and sizes, I was intimately familiar with the good, bad, and the ugly. It was a hazard of my profession, but Rome was packing something that I wasn’t sure anatomy and biology were going to let happen.”

Going into this story I was prepared for Rome’s story to be different.  Different in many ways. He is not the hot-headed, pierced, tattooed, funky haired guy that his brother and friends are(and I have to admit I missed the Apa that his brother had).  I kept thinking, as I read, that Rome is just a big, overprotective, and broken teddy bear J Cora calls him “captain no-fun” and I couldn’t blame her in the beginning.

“That’s too much for one person to try and carry around all the time, Rome. You can’t be responsible for everyone or feel guilty all the time for being one of lucky ones.”

Rome is carrying some serious baggage. Baggage from his family life and from his military experience. Deep down he is a great guy and he does his best to do the right thing but the baggage is dragging him down.   Thank goodness the tiny and spunky Cora shows him that he must let it all go. She has some baggage of her own but she is still able to bring the “color” into his life that he never thought he wanted or needed.

“It was hard for me to recall what my boring black-and-white world looked like before she stormed into it and bled color into every nook and cranny.”

Then, not only do we get caught up in the steam and drama of Rome and Cora, we still get more about the rest of the gang’s story. That’s one of the things I love about this series, all the couples and friends stories all flow together in every book.  But, I have to be honest and say that I was a tad disappointed in the end of this one. It ended and I felt like I needed sooooo much more.  I didn’t feel like Rome and Cora’s relationship was totally complete for me. Maybe I will get the more I need in the next book, but I don’t want to wait for the next book. *pouts and stomps feet*

So, now that my temper tantrum is over, I will say that this is another great read and continuation in the Marked Men series. It is packed full of heartbreaking moments, steamy sex, humor, and friendship.  I thought Rule was my favorite in this series till I read Rome’s story. I love a bad boy but I love a big alpha male even more 😉 If you haven’t jumped on reading this series yet, get to it!!!!

I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.
I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.
