Nina Kennedy was alive…but not living…until she met him.
Planes, trains, heights…you name it, Nina was afraid of it and led a sheltered life ruled by irrational fears and phobias. When she moves to Brooklyn for nursing school, that life is turned upside down, as she develops an intense but unwanted attraction to her gorgeous roommate, who’s pierced, tattooed and just happens to be the smartest person she’s ever met.
Behind Jake Green’s rough exterior and devilish smile, lies a heart of gold. He makes it his mission to change Nina’s outlook on life. When he agrees to tutor her, they forge a bet and the stakes are high as Jake forces Nina to face her demons. He just wasn’t expecting to fall hard for her in the process.
What Nina doesn’t realize, is that Jake has been living his own private hell. Once he drops a bombshell, will their love survive it?
Told in two parts from both Nina and Jake’s points of view, Jake Undone is a standalone story and a companion to the novel, Gemini.

5 AMAZEBALLS STARS
Let me just start by saying THANK YOU to Penelope Ward for contacting me and asking me if I would be interested in reading and reviewing Jake Undone. I feel completely honored that she thought to ask me. I LOVED Gemini and Jake Undone was NO different!!!!! This story was amazing. What I love the most about Penelope’s writing is that she knows how to write a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you have read Gemini then you know that Penelope is known for throwing in shocking surprises into her books. Well Jake Undone is no different. I knew going into this book that I was in for a shocking twist/surprise somewhere along the way. Well let me tell you the shocking twist that comes out in this book was AMAZING!!! I would’ve never guessed it. Now don’t get me wrong you know that Jake is hiding a secret pretty much right from the beginning, and I had many versions going on in my head, but I never would’ve thought of this one. This story was such an emotional roller coaster, it keeps you hanging on all the way to the end. It had everything a 5 Star book should have. We got a great love story, that also gave us some steam, tears, laughs and some shocking truths. I know that this is pretty vague but I am trying to do this book justice without giving anything away.
We briefly meet Jake in Gemini and I remember after finishing that book, thinking I really hope Jake got his own book. Well low and behold he did and it totally lived up to my expectations. Jake was an amazing Hero. He was a hunky, pierced, tattooed bad boy….Who wouldn’t love him. But he was also a very smart person, but he was also loyal to a fault. He proved that throughout this whole book. Jake is one person you definitely want in your corner if something bad happens. Once his whole situation comes to light I felt so bad for him. The whole time he was just so determined to do the right thing. This book does have one element that I normally don’t like reading about, but in this book it didn’t bother me at all. Once all the information comes out I truly couldn’t blame Jake for his decisions. I loved that even though he had things going on in his life, he was so determined to help Nina overcome her phobias. Nina on the other hand wasn’t the strongest heroine I have read, but she didn’t annoy me either. Yes there were times I wanted to smack her upside the head, but she is also a very insecure person with a lot of self doubt that I really didn’t blame her either for some of her decisions. I really can’t say much more on these two characters without giving away spoiling information…so I am just going to say….you need to read this book to experience the greatness of Jake and Nina.
As for secondary characters…there really aren’t any that stand out. Yes there were plenty of additional characters in the story but none that played a huge part. They were there to just add dimension to the story. I will say that one of the extra characters I liked was Skylar. She is a 15 yr old girl who is going through the biggest fight of her life. When Nina and her first meet, I loved her attitude. I was so glad to see she will be getting her story told also in a book that is releasing in 2014. Although the blurb to her book makes me nervous 😦 Anyways…there are plenty of characters in this book. Penelope also gave us characters we just had to HATE!!!!! (Desiree and Lexi) You’ll understand when you read the book. I will say that Ryan (Nina’ BFF) really pissed me off towards the end. What he does to Nina was unexceptable in my opinion and I really would’ve like to see how both Jake and Nina handled it. It was briefly talked about but I would’ve liked more. He needed to be junk punched!!!!!!
Well I could go on and on about this book but I have to stop here, because I am on the verge on spoiling it for you….lol 🙂 YES …. I would recommend this book to everyone, but if you are a fan of Penelope Ward….then you FOR SURE don’t want to miss this. Ms. Ward has definitely become a MUST READ AUTHOR for me!!!!!!
