For nineteen-year-old Ember, life has always been about death. With a simple touch, she can see when someone will die. It’s her curse and the reason she secludes herself from the world. The only person that knows her secret is her best friend Raven.
But that changes when she meets Asher Morgan. He’s gorgeous and mysterious and is the only person Ember can’t sense death from. The silence he instills in her mind and body allows her to feel things she’s never been able to before, so despite her initial reservations, Ember lets Asher into her life and lets herself to get close to him. But the closer they get, the more Ember realizes that Asher is keeping secrets from her.
When unexplained deaths begin to surface in her town, Ember questions why she can’t see Asher’s death and what it is he’s hiding from her.

Okay so bear with me for this review. While yes, I have read paranormal books before, it was long before blogging and before I wrote reviews and I have never wrote a review for a paranormal book before.
Let me start off by saying that I could NOT put this book down. Jessica Sorenson is an amazing writer and I thoroughly enjoyed Ember. The writing was flawless and my only complaint is that there were a few minor editing errors that I noticed. Not enough to make me not finish the book, but enougn to make me pause while reading and think to myself, hmm what is that supposed to say.
Ember is a 19 year old girl that can see death. Yes, she can literally see death with just one touch of another person. A brush of a shoulder, a handshake, just a simple touch and she can see that persons down to the very detail. She feels plagued by this gift/curse. Because of this, she cannot stand to be touched. She knows how her mother is going to die, her brother, her best friends and countless others who she has happened to accidentally touch throughout her life. Ember does not share her secret with anyone other than her best friend, Raven. Honestly, what a terrible thing to be cursed with. Who wants to live with death constantly consuming you.
Because of that, she finds solace in spending time in the cemetery because how can you see death in those who are already dead and buried 6feet under. It is at the cemetery one night that she sees a very mysterious, very handsome guy. We come to know him as Cameron. Cameron might just be hiding some secrets of his own.
Then one night at a party that Raven has drug her ember along to, she meets Asher. Oh how I LOVED Asher. He respects Ember’s issue with being touched and doesn’t stray from that. But it also this same night that things start happening. Murders, crime scenes, questionable events. And everything is pointing straight to Ember.
Ember has secrets. Cameron has secrets. And now, Asher has secrets and come to find out, when Asher and Ember touch, she can’t see death at all. Amazing right? Well you will get all the answers to those crazy questions running through your head!
Over all, an amazing story about life, death, Grim Reapers, Angels of Death, Grim Angels and a confused girl that just wants some answers. Is there a love story here…hell YES!! Did I love that love story?….hell YES!! Is there sex? YEP!! Did I cry when this book ended?..You better believe it! Am I dyyyyyying (no pun intended) for book two? Omg you have NO idea!!
That’s all I’ve got folks. I don’t want to ruin this amazing story for you at all so I have to cut it off there unfortunately. I hope y’all enjoy Ember as much as I did. I know not everyone reads paranormal but I honestly think you should give it a shot. You might just find a new favorite genre!!
