*~*Kaleb by Nicole Edwards Review*~*

kaleb

blurb

Zoey Stranford might’ve had a crush on the sexy boy next door since middle school, but she’s a woman now, and that crush has turned into a full blown case of lust. So why is it that at twenty nine, her libido decides to ramp into high gear and the only thing she can focus on is the intensely sexy, scorching hot boy next door who is definitely not a boy anymore?
The only problem is that Zoey and Kaleb have been best friends for as long as she can remember. Not to mention, Kaleb and his brothers are working on buying Stranford land to build a new resort, and she’s more than a little hesitant about his intentions.
Kaleb Walker has had his eye on Zoey for close to twenty years, but never before has he considered taking their friendship to the next level, no matter how many fantasies he’s had about her over the years. That doesn’t explain why Kaleb is hell bent on having her – in as many ways as possible.
Kaleb finds himself in a precarious situation. His brothers have nominated him to pursue Zoey’s father about purchasing the land needed to get their new resort off the ground. Finding out that Carl Stranford is on the brink of foreclosure and Zoey might just lose her house and the land, Kaleb now has to convince her to put aside her pride and let him help her.
It doesn’t take long before the flames start burning bright and hot, and the two of them burn up the nights and the days as they explore each other’s forbidden fantasies. But can their friendship survive a business transaction or the new friends with benefits clause? Or will they realize that they’ve been overlooking something much deeper that’s been right in front of them all along?

OMG, finally a book about adults!!! I don’t mind YA books but that seems to be all I have been reading recently. If I had to read about one more virgin, I was going to SCREAM!!! This story is far from that. My warning to all is if you are in any way a prude, DO NOT read this story.  But if you are like me, then READ ON 😉  This story takes HOT to the extreme and is not for the vanilla people. Kaleb was exactly what I was needing when I found myself in a book rut.

Kaleb and Zoey are great friends and have been for many, many years. Kaleb is in business with his 6 HOT AS HELL brothers and Zoey owns her own cleaning business with her best friend, Vanessa. There has always been an attraction between Kaleb and Zoey but neither have shown it(WHY NOT?!?)….until now. And, boy did they show it now. They know exactly how to push each others buttons.

“I’ve known for a long time that I don’t have any control when it comes to you.” –Kaleb  “Well, I’ve dreamt of a million ways to make you lose control, so we’re even.” -Zoey

Who needs pornos when you can read Nicole Edwards’ books. This isn’t high school shit boys and girls. Kaleb is a man who knows what he wants and how to get it .

“I can’t promise gentle, and I can’t promise I’ll shower you with sweet words. As much as I want to, I’m not that man, I need you, Zoey.” –Kaleb

Oh, he can do sweet words when he wants to but he also can talk the panties right off of you in 2 seconds flat! And then don’t get me started on Gage….WOW! Gage is Kaleb’s best friend and also a key player in a lot of this book. I think he needs his own book because I fell in love 😉 Who am I kidding, I fell in love with Gage and every single one of the Walker brothers, but Gage really caught my attention. I can’t stop thinking about him.  Book whore…..yep, that’s me!! Someone find me book whores anonymous!!

Thank goodness there are 7 brothers because I need for Nicole to never stop writing about these guys. And her writing….I need to point out that I loved her writing. There was nothing about this story that I can even come close to complaining about. I devoured this story and needed someone to pry my Kindle from my hands to make me stop reading it. Dinner??….who needs dinner?? Wash your own clothes!!! Hahahaha….I think my family might have cheered when I finally came out of my Kindle and joined them again.

I am warning you that this is a steaming HOT one but there also is a lot of great story to it. And a cliff hanger!!!! Can you believe that?!? I love and hate cliff hangers and this one was no different. It ticks me off that I have to wait for the next book but then I also LOVE the suspense of it. I can’t stress to you enough about how much I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading many more from Nicole 🙂

Kaleb (Alluring Indulgence, #1)Kaleb by Nicole Edwards

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 “Walker Boy” Kisses

*WARNING* this review will have vulgar images, lots of talk about sex and probably quite a bit of cursing – if this offends you – stop now….I will not be able to control my “dirty book whore” ways in this review (btw “dirty book whore” ways is a trademark term of the Book Bitches c/o Jen and her magical brain!)

Omg…I am in love with Nicole Edwards right now. Her books are very hard to forget…they elicit very specific emotions from me….also known as uncontrollable horniness. I have been hearing good things about her series for a while and I feel like slapping myself for not reading them sooner. Sometimes I need a book that will just give me straight up, honest to goodness, hot, wild sex. Nicole just gave me that and SO much more.

So Kaleb is my first entrance into the amazingness that is Nicole’s writing and I can officially say it will not be my last, I am hooked. It the first in the Alluring Indulgence series, about the Walker boys, and as we all know I will never ever ever get tired of books that are part of a series, especially ones that involve hot brothers. 7 of them…that’s right, I said S-E-V-E-N, oh my, yes, please and thank you! Kaleb is the third oldest at 32, Travis (35), Sawyer (33), Braydon & Brendon (29 – twins! Yes…it gets better), Ethan (27) and Zane (24) Walker…don’t ask me why I threw in the ages, but they matter to me, I’m a sucker for details. They are as yummy as their names, all tall and hot and TEXAN – it’s like Nicole went straight to my ‘inner slut’ (Zoey isn’t the only one who has one! Lol) and poof! The Walker men appeared. Love. It.

But let’s get back to the topic at hand….Kaleb Fuckin Walker….6’4”, ‘scorching blue grey eyes’ (an inherited Walker trait), ‘sinfully delicious body’…do I need to continue? Just wait…

‘Zoey was mesmerized by that signature Walker grin – just a little crooked, just a little wicked, and just a lot sexy.’

Hello…I’ve died and gone to heaven. This man bleeds sex appeal right off my kindle, straight thru my eyeballs and into my brain where we had loads of fun! It doesn’t hurt that he’s a good guy too – family man, built the family business from the ground up with his brothers, determined…and of course he drips Alpha Male…it’s hard to find a flaw in him.

‘It didn’t take much to realize that this one woman, his best friend had just changed him in inconceivable ways. From this moment forward, Kaleb knew he’d never be the same.’

So…Zoey Stranford and Kaleb Walker have been friends forever. Grew up together, went to prom, supported each other thru good times and bad. Never crossing that line while secretly always wanting to – isn’t that always the case. I get it, you don’t go there because once you do there is no going back and ‘is it worth the risk?’ is always playing in the back of your mind. It was so worth the risk.

‘It didn’t take much to realize that this one woman, his best friend had just changed him in inconceivable ways. From this moment forward, Kaleb knew he’d never be the same.’ ‘Part of her was scared to give in to him, but the other part knew she already had. Zoey had fallen for this man. Her best friend. Her lover. She’d gone and given her heart to Kaleb Walker, and he didn’t even know it.’

I loved Zoey, obviously not as much as the boys…but she was super cool…and she’s 29, so I could relate to her in that respect. She’s a hard worker, good daughter, had it a little rough – cheating ex-husband and all that good stuff – so living at home at working her little butt to death at her business, cleaning homes, she is very admirable. She’s guarded but it’s hard to be guarded when you’re dealing with a Walker who’s known you most of your life.

‘Yes, damn it, Zoey was still thinking about it. Kaleb Walker had scorched her brain cells with his soul stealing kisses, and she’d though of little else ever since.’

Where can I sign up for these magical brain cell scorching kisses? I want one…I need one… OMG…Zoey and Kaleb are hotness personified. I couldn’t put them down, they sizzled off the pages and exploded into my imagination and I looooooooved it. I love it when it’s a couple who knows each other and they take it to that next level, it’s a different kind of hot – I can’t explain it, but it’s deeper. And just when I thought I was set with Zoey and Kaleb and things couldn’t get any better – Miss. Edwards throws Gage (Kaleb’s best friend) into the picture. Oh….my….god….it just keeps on getting better. You couldn’t wipe the smile from my face.

‘And here she was about to alter the rest of her life because Zoey knew without a doubt that being with Kaleb would ruin her for any other man. She loved him. Had always loved him; although maybe that love was based more on friendship than anything else, but it was love nonetheless. There was no way to confuse lust with love when it came to Kaleb because, despite the fact that she was attracted to him, she deeply cared about him. Always had and always would.’

So it’s not all fun and sex games, as much as I wish it could have been. There was a little angst and drama, but it was manageable. None of this ‘throw your kindle’…more of a ‘gently squeeze your heart’ kinda stuff. The Walker boys are trying to start a very select private club, Alluring Indulgences. The problem is they need some of the land that is owned by Zoe’s father. There are many more details, but I won’t spoil the fun, but I will say that Nicole did have a few twists up her sleeve when it came to that part of the story…I was pleasantly surprised.

‘Two bodies, two souls, two hearts, coming together as one. And that’s how Kaleb felt when he was with Zoey. For him, there was no better place to be.’

There is a lot going on in the book. It’s the first book in the series so there is plenty to establish and set up. Not only does this set the tone for the rest of the series, but it gives you your basis for your characters, sets up your characters for the 2nd book in the series, because they have to come out a little more than the others, but then you also have to focus on your main couple. Nicole balances this perfectly. It never felt rushed, everything was very effortlessly described and explained – no confusion, no detail left out…it was pretty flawless.

Now, please don’t take what I am about to say the wrong way…I loved basically ever last word that left Kaleb’s lips…that man is hot, hot, hot and I couldn’t get enough. But I didn’t really get a lot of those ‘swooney’ lines that stop my heart and make my heart turn to mush. That was quite all right with me, because he made other parts of me VERY happy and that is equally pleasing for me, but Kaleb is just a different kind of book boyfriend.

‘Two bodies, two souls, two hearts, coming together as one. And that’s how Kaleb felt when he was with Zoey. For him, there was no better place to be.’

To say that I am anxiously awaiting Zane is an understatement of MEGA proportions. Nicole semi-cliffed Kaleb. Once again, your kindle will not leave your hand, but it was enough to make me pout for a hot minute. Not cool…but mission achieved cause I need to know about my poor Zane. I completely, 100% cannot encourage you enough to read this book and follow my lead by reading anything and everything that Nicole puts out. She is in my top three authors who can freaking write a damn good sex scene and get you hooked hard on a series. Enjoy the Walker Boys, ladies! 🙂

So let’s see here. The Walker boys….SEVEN BROTHERS! Did you hear me? Seven! Count them- Travis, Sawyer, Kaleb, Braydon and Brendon (twins-yum), Ethan, and Zane! All seven are hotter than a Texas sun on a mid-July day and all are kinky little bastards. Got your attention huh? That’s what I thought!

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for this series. The entire Alluring Indulgence series is going to be hot, Hot, HOT!!! I fell in love with Nicole’s writing with her Club Destiny series and in all seriousness, if you have not yet read it yet, you are a boring prude! Nah, just kidding. But you really should go get it…..like now…..go on…..you and your girly parts will be happier with some Nicole Edward’s books in your life. I promise. And you’re significant other won’t be complaining either.

Okay, so getting back to Kaleb. Kaleb is the third oldest of the Walker brothers and has some sexual preferences that would make an 84 year old virgin have some serious vagina clenching! Yes, vagina clenching….it happens!

kalebbrooke

Kaleb and his brothers are in the process of trying to work out all the details to build a resort in their small Texas town. These details require purchasing enough land in order to accommodate the size of the resort. And it just so happens that some of the land they need belongs to the father of one of Kaleb’s lifelong friends…….Zoey Stranford.

Zoey and Kaleb have been friends and neighbors for as long as they can remember. Growing up so close to one another, they developed a very close friendship. But little did either of them know, they both harbor intense feelings for each other and the sexual tension between these two is so thick you can taste it! Yum!

There is so much going on in this book and I say that with the biggest smile on my face. I don’t want to be Miss “spoil the fun”….. especially with the juicy details…but just know that Kaleb’s best friend Gage comes into “play” a couple of times and mother of all that’s holy….I think my panties burned right off my body. I’m all for a little ‘American Trombone’ action…..yeah, go look it up. You’ll be sorry if you don’t! If you can’t find the definition just email me…I will gladly inform you  🙂

So, I loved everything about this book- From the process of Kaleb and Zoey coming clean to each other about their mutual feelings, to the ‘oh so steamy’ sex, to the AMAZING three way action, to the slight angst, to the rest of the Walker Brothers. It needs to be said that I am officially in LOVE with Travis Walker and I don’t even know why yet. Of all the Walker boys, his book is the one I am looking forward to the most. I find him to be one hot, intriguing mystery and I want to become Miss Detective and crack his case. PLEASE Nicole Edwards, give me some Travis after Zane!! Please please please!! I need this man in my life!

So you lovely readers, if you enjoy some amazing writing, hot, Hot, HOT sex, a little three way play, and a whole lotta love…fall in Love with the Walker boys, Kaleb first, and jump aboard the Alluring Indulgence train! It’s a one way ticket straight to bliss! Happy reading!

about the author

nicoleedwardsAbout me… hmmm…
Ok, I’ve been asked to provide a little bit of “real” information about myself. That’s harder to do than you think it is, especially for someone who has difficulty talking about themselves. 😉 But, here goes…
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a kid, I loved creative writing and as I got older, I got acquainted with those voices in my head and that led to putting my stories on paper. And now, here I am all these years later, spending my days doing what I love most. I decided to give myself over to writing full time in 2012 and I haven’t looked back. I spent nearly 13 years in the corporate world and I have to say, this is a bit of a change (just a little) and I am loving every second of it.
I live in Texas with my husband and three amazing kids and our two beloved dogs. If I’m not writing, I’m usually reading. I devour everything I can get my hands on. I love romance of any type and being an Indie author myself, I’m always looking for new Indies to support. I haven’t always been into reading, but about eleven years ago, I picked up a book – I’m pretty sure it was by Nora Roberts – and from there, I haven’t stopped. Before I began writing full time, and my characters started taking up so much of my time, I was reading about 200 books a year. That has dwindled somewhat, but there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t read.
An interesting fact… I don’t watch television – aside from the occasional news anyway. I will go see a movie or two rarely, but for the most part, I get all of my entertainment from a book. Some of my favorite authors include J.R. Ward, Suzanne Brockmann, Lora Leigh, Jane Rylon, Lori Foster, and Jaci Burton just to name a few.             Check out Nicole’s Website.
