Parties, sororities and getting drunk.
Oh, yeah. And learning.
This may be true for most college students, but not for Leah Bennett. College life for her includes studying, working, and excelling in school. When it comes to the social ladder, Leah is at the bottom. Popular girls, hot guys and star athletes are of no importance to her, except for one.
Matt is the starting wide receiver at SUNY Cortland, the most wanted guy on campus and Leah’s best friend. Although Leah’s feelings toward Matt run deeper than just a friendship, it is something she would never let be heard because the odds of someone like Matthew Jacobs going for someone like Leah Bennett are slim to none.
When Matt starts showing an interest in Leah that goes beyond friendship, she is dumbfounded and doesn’t believe it is possible – until one weekend that changes everything.
Will Matt and Leah’s popularity status get in the way of having a chance at a real relationship?
Or does status mean nothing when it comes to true love?
Ashley has grown as an author and I was wowed at the change in her writing. Waiting on Forever was the third book I have read by her and with every book, I have seen so much progress. This one surprised me by sucking me in and not letting me go until it was over. I must admit, I have been in a book rut lately. I feel like everything has been the same but this changed that for me.
Leah and Matt meet at college orientation and are total opposites or at least that’s what everyone thinks. Matt is the jock and Leah is what people like to call “nerdy.” But I wouldn’t describe her that way…I loved her! She is a girl who knows what she wants and goes after it but yet doesn’t let everyone else’s opinion matter to her. Yeah, it isolated her a little but I enjoyed reading about the fact that she didn’t take shit from anyone. The girl could kick ass and when she does I was cheering her on 🙂
“Sorry, Sweetheart. I may be nerdy and quiet, but I don’t let stupid people walk all over me.” –Leah
But, boy oh boy, does she break out of her shell when she figures out that Matt is exactly what she has been waiting for. The girl had absolutely no experience with guys but something about him made her body do things she never knew possible.
“What the hell? Am I a dick-a-holic now?” -Leah
And then we have Matt…wow, Matt!!
Yep, that’s exactly how I pictured him except he shocked me. I am not kidding…he blew me away with the things he said and did for Leah. I was expecting an arrogant jock and he was such a sweety. Their relationship (friends first) starts out slow and Leah wasn’t even sure where Matt’s head was for the first few months. She was thinking something totally opposite of what he had in mind. She was willing to be happy with just friends but that is not what he had in mind.
“Online friends, class together three times a week, study partners, and now workout buddies. It looks like life just got that much sweeter.” –Leah
But once the cat is out of the bag that Matt wants more from her, the heat picks up!! I didn’t expect as much steam from this story as I got. Sweet and quiet little Leah had quite a sexual appetite on her. And then there is some sadness to this story which I will not ruin but just know it is short lived and then I got that HEA that I crave with every story I read.
