Another guest review from Virginia Tesi Carey – Losing It by Cora Carmack

4 stars

So many people were saying such great things about this book, I knew I had to read it.  I am happy to say I was not disappointed- I loved it!!

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and she is still a virgin- something she is not happy about.  She decides to take matters into her own hands and have a one night stand.  She goes out with her friend, Kelsey, to a bar and meets a hot guy named Garrick.  In addition to being hot, Garrick has a British accent and calls her love (things both Bliss and I found sexy), he is attentive to Bliss and he gives her a hot kiss.  Bliss decides Garrick will be the one she will take home and lose her virginity to.  All is going well until she panics, makes up a ridiculous excuse and leave him alone in her bed.  Her embarrassment turns to mortification the next morning when she shows up to her first class of her last semester of college to find out Garrick is her new theatre professor!!!  They know they shouldn’t be together due to this but there is one problem- they can’t seem to stay away from each other.

I won’t say more on the story as not to give it away.  Let me say that this book was sooo good.  I loved the story and the characters.  Bliss likes to control what is happening in her life and her approach at a one night stand is funny.  Garrick is hot, sweet, a great kisser and British and I totally had a crush on him!  How Garrick and Bliss deal with the situation they are in, their feelings and the fact that they are neighbors makes for a great storyline.  Throw in Kelsey, who is absolutely hysterical, and Cade (Bliss’ best friend who is male and likes her) and you have a great group of characters.

This is a great debut novel from Cora.  At the end of the book, Cora states that she likes to put her characters in awkward situations.  This is an easy, light read with humor, love, drama, romance and sexual tension.  I can’t wait to read more from Cora and see what other awkward situations her characters find themselves in!!  A must read!!!!
